The short answer
The ethical question around mica is mining labor, not skin safety. Some mica is mined in conditions that include child labor, which is why sourcing documentation matters as much as the ingredient name. We buy from suppliers who provide that documentation and we name our position on the standards page.
Mica mining has a documented labour problem in parts of the world, including child labour. That is a fact about how some mica is sourced, not about what mica is.
Our response is to buy only from suppliers who can trace and audit their mines of origin, and to print the ingredient on the label as 'Ethically Sourced Mica' rather than hiding it inside a proprietary blend.
You are entitled to be skeptical of a claim like that. Ask us who our suppliers are and we will tell you.
