Nutrient-Rich Full-Coverage Liquid Foundation

Aloe first, water second — read the order below.

Nutrient-Rich Full-Coverage Liquid Foundation

Most liquid foundations open with water and silicone and close with a preservative you were not meant to look up. This one opens with aloe and names all six plants doing the preserving.

The Ingredient Logic — the formula, as listed on the label

20 ingredients. 20 jobs.

  1. 01Organic Aloe Vera JuiceBasesIt is the base of the Liquid Foundation — the first ingredient, in place of the water-and-silicone base most liquid foundations start from. Everything else in the formula is suspended in it.
  2. 02Purified WaterBasesIt adjusts the viscosity of the aloe base so the formula meters evenly through the pump and spreads without dragging.
  3. 03Organic GlycerinHumectantsIt keeps the film flexible on skin. Without it a botanical foundation tightens as it sets and starts to sit in fine lines by the afternoon.
  4. 04SqualaneBotanical OilsIt is the emollient that makes full coverage wearable. Squalane spreads far for its weight, so pigment load can go up without the foundation reading heavy.
  5. 05Organic Rice PowderBasesIt absorbs surface oil through the day so the finish holds. This is the natural stand-in for the silica and silicone elastomers that usually do this job.
  6. 06Boron NitrideMineralsSoft focus. It scatters light across the surface of the foundation so full coverage looks like skin rather than like a layer, without using mica.
  7. 07Candelilla WaxWaxesIt gives the emulsion structure and keeps the pigment from separating out in the bottle, so the shade you shake is the shade you pump.
  8. 08Organic Shea ButterBotanical OilsIt is the richness that keeps a high-coverage formula from looking flat, and it carries the fat-soluble botanicals through the emulsion.
  9. 09Organic ChamomileBotanical ExtractsA comfort botanical for skin that has reacted before. It also contributes to the freshness of the botanical preservation system.
  10. 10Organic VanillaBotanical ExtractsIt is here for scent, and we would rather name it than write the word fragrance. There is no synthetic fragrance in the formula and nothing hiding behind a proprietary blend — this is the whole of the scent story.
  11. 11Organic LecithinBasesIt is the emulsifier — the thing that lets the aloe-water phase and the squalane-shea oil phase live in one bottle without a synthetic surfactant.
  12. 12Oregano LeafBotanical ExtractsThe lead botanical in the preservation system of the Liquid Foundation. Traditionally used to help keep formulas fresh, it is a large part of why the bottle needs no parabens or phenoxyethanol.
  13. 13Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) ExtractBotanical ExtractsPart of the botanical preservation system. Thyme is traditionally used to help keep formulas fresh, and it is one of the reasons the ingredient list can end at nine names.
  14. 14Olive LeafBotanical ExtractsPart of the botanical preservation system, working alongside oregano, thyme, rosemary, lavender and goldenseal.
  15. 15Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf ExtractBotanical ExtractsThe most established natural antioxidant in the botanical preservation system. It guards the jojoba and safflower oils against oxidation, which is what lets us skip a synthetic preservative.
  16. 16Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower ExtractBotanical ExtractsPart of the botanical preservation system. Lavender has traditionally been used to help keep formulas fresh, which is how we hold a powder stable without parabens or phenoxyethanol.
  17. 17GoldensealBotanical ExtractsThe sixth botanical in the preservation system. Six named plants doing the job that one unnamed synthetic usually does — that trade-off is the whole reason the list is longer and fully disclosed.
  18. 18Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)VitaminsIt does two jobs at once: it conditions the powder so it reads soft on skin, and it works with the rosemary and green tea to keep the oil phase stable.
  19. 19Non-Nano Titanium DioxideMineralsIt is the opacity in the Liquid Foundation. Full coverage from botanicals needs a white base pigment to build the iron oxides against, and non-nano titanium dioxide is the one that does it without mica.
  20. 20Iron Oxides (non-nano, uncoated)PigmentsThis is the color. Three oxides in different ratios make every shade we sell, which is why the shades read as skin rather than as paint, and why they do not oxidize orange over the day.

How it wears

01

One metered pump covers the face. The pump is there so you do not over-apply a high-pigment formula.

02

Warm it on the back of the hand first — the shea and squalane spread further at skin temperature.

03

Set only where you need it. The rice powder already does most of the shine control.

In their words

I avoid mica entirely and had given up on full coverage. This is the first bottle that covered without it.

I ordered the half version just to try it out and I love it. It's super lightweight. Doesn't feel like it's clogging my pores and it lasts. I also am a functional nutritionist and I love all things non-toxic. I will definitely be buying the full-size bottle once I run out. Thank you, Heal Yes!

Alma

Beautiful peace of mind. Love Heal Yes! However, as a woman in her 60's I find it necessary to add oils to this product.

Sue Wright

Aloe as the first ingredient. I read the label three times to be sure.

Before you buy

Why is the ingredient list longer than the pressed foundation?
Because six named plants are doing the job one unnamed synthetic preservative usually does. A longer list here is the disclosure, not the compromise.
Is there a trial size?
Yes, a 15 mL half size.
