Perfect-Finish Full-Coverage Cream Foundation

Two oils, two waxes, three pigments — read all nine.

Perfect-Finish Full-Coverage Cream Foundation

Full coverage usually arrives as a long list of film-formers. This one arrives as coconut oil, sunflower oil and three pigments, and it is honest about the aroma that comes with it.

The Ingredient Logic — the formula, as listed on the label

9 ingredients. 9 jobs.

  1. 01Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) OilBotanical OilsIt is the base of the Cream Foundation — the first ingredient, and the reason a solid stick turns into a spreadable film the moment it meets your face.
  2. 02Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed OilBotanical OilsIt thins the coconut oil into something blendable. Coconut alone would sit heavy; sunflower is what lets the Cream Foundation move under fingers and stop where you stop.
  3. 03Mineral-Derived OzokeriteWaxesIt is the structure. Two liquid oils and a pigment load will not hold a shape, so ozokerite is what makes the Cream Foundation a stick rather than a jar.
  4. 04Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) WaxWaxesIt raises the melting point so the formula survives a warm bag, and in the mascara it is what builds length along the lash without flaking.
  5. 05Cymbopogon Martini (Palmarosa) OilBotanical OilsIt is traditionally used to help keep an oil-based formula fresh, and it is the reason the Cream Foundation carries a natural scent. This product is not unscented, and we would rather say so on the label.
  6. 06Vegetable-Derived Stearic AcidBasesIt gives the Cream Foundation its body — the difference between a greasy balm and a foundation that sets to a skin-like finish.
  7. 07Iron Oxides (non-nano, uncoated)PigmentsThis is the color. Three oxides in different ratios make every shade we sell, which is why the shades read as skin rather than as paint, and why they do not oxidize orange over the day.
  8. 08UltramarinePigmentsIt is the cool end of the color. In the Duos it makes the steel and plum shades possible; in the Cream Foundation a trace of it neutralizes orange so tan and deep shades read true rather than brassy.
  9. 09Non-Nano Titanium DioxideMineralsIt is the opacity in the Liquid Foundation. Full coverage from botanicals needs a white base pigment to build the iron oxides against, and non-nano titanium dioxide is the one that does it without mica.

How it wears

01

It doubles as a concealer — choose one to two shades lighter than your foundation match for under the eye.

02

Warm on the back of the hand; the coconut oil melts at skin temperature and spreads much further warm.

03

Set with Blur + Set only where you crease. The formula stays workable until it is set.

Before you buy

Is it scented?
It carries a natural soft floral aroma from palmarosa oil. There is no added fragrance, but it is not unscented.
Can I use it as concealer?
Yes, one to two shades lighter than your foundation match.
