Silica
What it is
Micro-fine spherical mineral particles milled from silicon dioxide, the same mineral family as sand and quartz.
Why it is here
It does the blurring and the shine control. The spheres roll against each other, so a powder built on silica presses smooth and keeps surface oil from pooling through the day.

In some formulas, not others
Silica is in the Eyeshadow Duos, the Blur + Set powder and the Perfecting Primer. It is not in the nine-ingredient pressed base — the foundation, blush, highlighter and trios use rice powder and mica for the same job.
